Awakening through Jewish Meditation

Open Meditation Retreat

June 17-24, 2007 — Summer Silence

Bring awareness to the internal obstacles that impede open heartedness, and live life with more joy and compassion. This seven-day silent meditation retreat is open to both beginners and advanced practitioners and will concentrate on the practices and underpinnings of contemplative Jewish teachings informed by the four worlds model of Jewish mysticism.

Silence is held throughout the day, including at meals and in rooms. Practices such as mindfulness to breath and body sensations help participants slow down, reconnect with themselves, and become conscious of inner states and experiences. Days are structured to include a contemplative morning prayer service, yoga, individual interviews with facilitators, and evening teaching sessions. The week will culminate with a contemplative Shabbat ends on Sunday at noon.

This retreat fosters a deep exploration of participants' own lives and consciousness, bringing participants to a greater experience of the Divine in their lives and in all things.

This retreat has no program fee; the teachers are supported by free-will dontations at the end of the retreat.
