Opening our blessed mouths to sing or chant, pray, intone or improvise, we can encounter the vast meanings and mysteries of sound—and the sacred Source from which our wisdom rises.
Through vocal games, guided practices, liturgy and love-songs, this course will explore the link between sound and soulfulness, and the subtleties of the connections between the voice, the heart and the space of our expression. This workshop/playshop will deepen our personal pleasure in music-making and enhance our skills in leading public worship.
Beginners and established singers are welcome.
Cantor Robert Esformes serves as cantor for Temple Har Zion, a Conservative/Renewal congregation in Mount Holly, NJ. He also travels widely, leading renewal services, performing in concert (particularly the Ladino/Sephardi repertoire) and teaching Jewish music, meditation and spiritual formation.
